Save the rainforest

In May 2007 Runs ‘N Roses started the project: Save The Rainforest. The reason: we have seen the fires in the night, we see pieces of rainforest disappearing constantly when we look over the rainforest from the place where we live. We, staff of Runs ‘N Roses and staff and volunteers of the Thai Child Development Foundation want that to stop this process and help to preserve the rainforest in Phato area for the sake of the children and the people here.

Phato has an area of 600 km2 pristine rainforest. The biggest part of that is in the care of Ton Nam National Park. The rangers and staff of the National Park developped a program on awareness and taking care of the watershed and the rainforest. In spite of their efforts, the farmers in the area still cut the trees to extend their farmland. Every year a little bit. And thus reducing the rainforest.
Runs ‘N Roses wants to stop this process.

The plan is very simple:
We will buy pieces of farmland that border the forest.
This land will be replanted with forest and original trees.
We will start an educational program in the schools in cooperation with the Thai Child Development Foundation
We will work together with local NGO’s and Ton Nam National Park to create more awareness.

By working this way, we can stop deforestation, replant quite a lot of trees, teach children about the importance of the forest and we can start creating awareness amongst the local people.
