Travel health depends on your pre-departure preparations, your daily
health care while traveling and how you handle any medical problem
that does develop.
While the potential dangers can seem quite frightening, in reality
few travelers experience anything more than an upset stomach, a
sunburn or diarrhea.
Make sure you are healthy before you start traveling. If you are
going on a long trip make sure your teeth are okay. If you wear
glasses take a spare pair and your prescription.
If you require a particular medication, take an adequate supply,
as it may not be available locally. Take part of the packaging showing
the generic name rather than the brand, which will make getting
replacements easier.
To avoid any problems it is a good idea to have a legible prescription
or letter from you doctor to show that you legally use the medication.
Immunization
Plan ahead for getting your vaccinations: some of them require
more than one injection and certain vaccinations should not be given
together. Note that some vaccinations should not be giving during
pregnancy or to people with allergies.
Although there is no risk of yellow fever in Thailand, you will
need proof of vaccination if you are coming from a yellow
fever-infected area (sub Saharan Africa and parts of South America).
It is recommended you seek medical advice at least six weeks before
travel. It is a good idea to carry proof of your vaccinations.
If you want immunizations while in Thailand, they are available
from a number of sources, including both public hospitals and private
clinics.
Vaccinations you should consider having for Thailand includes the
following (for more information contact your doctor or travel clinic
in your home-country).

Diphtheria and tetanus

Hepatitis A

Be prepared
It is wise to be prepared for the animals you might encounter and
to know what to do and how to react when bitten by an insect or
worse. You can check the pages on malaria,
dengue and animal
bites if you want to know more.
