In June 2003 Runs 'N Roses
started supporting a Creative Learning Center (CLC), with
housing and providing food and time (volunteers).
The idea of the CLC is setting up educational projects for
local people (both youth and adults).
The CLC is an intitiative of the Thai
Child Development Foundation. All projects are done by
the volunteers of the foundation. If
you are interested in the foundation, the projects or you would
like to be a volunteer, you can visit the website of the foundation:
www.thaichilddevelopment.org.
The projects started so far are:
-
Education, English conversation.
Also called the weekend school. Every Saturday English conversation
with foreigners is on the schedule. By doing games, singing
songs, art and handicraft the students learn to speak and to
apply the English they learn in school. Many Runs 'N
Roses guests joined in the weekend school, just to talk
with the kids and play some games.
-
Every summer in april the foundation - together with Runs
'N Roses - organizes the summer
camp (since 2004). During these summercamps many local students
will learn - in English - all kind of things on environmental
projects, horses, fun things and much more.
-
"The World I live in". A co teaching project together
with different primary schools in Phato area. An educational
project in which students learn in a playful way about their
habitat. Conversation and creativity are the main aims, next
to exchange and contact with schools abroad.
-
The Phato Pony club. A horse back riding inititative. Here
children learn about horses. Riding them, taking care of them,
learning responsibilties of taking care of animals.
-
and many more projects. You can read all about it on the website
of the Thai Child
Development Foundation.
When you stay at the Runs 'N Roses
lodge and you want to know more about the CLC, feel free
to ask Roos or Ingrid.
They will gladly tell you everything about it.
